Hi everyone,

My name is Matt Winter........Welcome to my world of nature, animals, birds and New Zealand's wonderful outdoor environments.

I've had an interest in all things involved with New Zealand's "Great Outdoors" since a young age and a very passionate and active interest in several of them. Ranging from flyfishing and whitewater kayaking to freedive spearfishing through to hunting big game with bow and arrow and game bird hunting with my Springer Spaniel, 'Meg'. I like to refer to all these activities as my 'Playtime'.

Most recently my passions have obviously turned to capturing this 'playtime' in a digital sense. I'm really enjoying the new age of digital photography and delighting myself in the results I'm achieving in such a relatively short period. I'm also very proud of the fact that ALL of my animal and bird images are of completely wild and free creatures. No farms, no wildlife reserves, no game parks, no bird sanctuaries, no paddocks or fences and no 'pet' animals or birds. For me, the thrill and excitement from bowhunting (of stalking in very, very close to truly wild animals) has carried over into the field of photography.

So, have a good look around the images in the galleries set out below, enjoy yourself and I hope I will be able to give an insight into the amazing, beautiful and often inspiring animals, birds and countryside that I've had the privilege of being a part of.
